fine art emotional expressionist oil painter, sculptor, poet
New Zealand artist Cherie Knott is, undeniably, an artist with vision and talent. Her subject matter has
been diverse, ranging from whimsical works to powerful statements about the environment,
and people. She has recently been inspired by music and the extraordinary. Both her oil
paintings and sculptures express "life", not only the everyday, seemingly
commonplace occurrences, but in its high form, the vivacity of freedom of expression.
"Her commitment to communication via the visual arts is one of conviction.
Cherie Knott's art creates an atmosphere, a feeling, an emotion that finds her work sought
after by investors and public alike. In a world where artists are tied to the
umbilical cord of past schools and movements, it is refreshing to encounter the
imaginative and profound art work of Cherie Knott."
Her work can be described as outside the periphery of realism, in the direction of
expressionism, punctuated with atmosphere and emotion. In her solo exhibition at the
Festival du Mondi, Spoleto Art Festival in Italy, her art work was dubbed, "Emotional
Expressionism - her artwork is unique and undeniably moving."
"Possessed of a keen intelligence, an acute sensitivity and a healthy disregard
for the mundane and pretentious, Cherie impresses by maintaining the integrity of her own
vision, rather then following trends or fashion." Brian McKay - Australian Artist |
