The Magic of Wellington Art Competition Winners and their fantastic art

Carol Camden

Judges Suzanne Herschell and Richard Ponder present Carol Camden with first place for her stunningly original piece that captured the theme of the competition perfectly.  The detail, composition, fun, and outright originality made this the piece of the competition.

Anna, to the left was our under 12 winner with this amazing piece of the heart of Wellington titled "Colour Magic."  And there must have been some kind of magic in the air because the judges both agreed this was a totally stunning piece and knocked the ball out of the park.

Below is the picture that won Richard's coveted "painterly prize." The moment he saw the piece he was so excited he wanted to see more of Barry Robson's work in the gallery.

And some more winners... and indeed we would like to thank everyone who entered  - we at Rona Gallery had a ball and we hope everybody who turned up did too, we certainly had some great feedback - so thanks everyone :)

Brendan GrantChris Suggett
This young artist, Brendan Grant, is a bit of a find.  His streetscapes really caught Richard's eye - especially the top one, and that's how  he won an honorable mention for best urban scene. If you love Lord of the Rings, you will notice the bottom scene is of the embassy just days before the release of the Hobbit.

Chris Suggett's gorgeously romantic piece of the "Solitude will bring back Dreams of Wellington" won the coveted, :Most Atmospheric" prize.
