Paul Tait began exhibiting in Houston, Texas at the First Houstoon Fine Art Show. It was at this show he was invited to exhibit at the fledgling Fountainhead Gallery inHouston, TX. After several exhibitions at teh Fountainhead he moved on to Robinson Galleries. Thomas Robinson operated on Colquuit St, in the legendary gallery district where, in thsoe days 12 galleries operated within a 50m radius. He continued to exhibit there long after he returned to his adopted homeland of New Zealand and up until Tom sadly passed away in 1998. In New Zealand his work has shown considerable development, and it is this growth and transition that is going to be a theme of the exhibition.
Paul Tait's "magical surrealism" has been influenced by "super flat" and "surrealism" and has on occasion been dubbed as "Taitism." |
