Fiona KidmanFiona Kidman was first seen in Rona Gallery in 2005, but from the instant she entered the store it was like an old friend had dropped by to visit. Cheekily Richard asked her to open his exhibition and and she agreed. She wandered through the gallery, viewing all the artwork with an air of enjoyment and deep thought. Ian was there as well, more hale than he is now, and quite a charmer, chatting about Naenae College and his time there.Well, there's probably no need to say it, but her words were beautiful and from the heart. And that is why we always look forward to Fiona Kidman's visits. Humble and generous, she had something nice to say about all "my fellow poets" in Caught on Canvas. And of course the extract from her "Speaking With My Grandmothers" found page 40 is quite exquisite. With her beautiful imagery of wavering lights, and talk of improbable maps, it pairs beautifully with "Our Heritage" Richard Ponder, Wellington at Night painting.
