'Real art comes from the spirit of the artist, touches the spirit of the viewer…lingers in the mind.'

Graham Braddock is a committed New Zealand artist born in Auckland in 1942, whose paintings highlight the beauty and wisdom of nature and life.

He trained and worked initially as a graphic artist, then moved into professional fine art in 1974. His figurative paintings, landscape paintings and still life art works have won him many art awards, including the Cambridge Art Award twice, and the Kelliher Art Award in two consecutive years.

Some of his works are 'story' paintings that contain partially hidden words or imagery. This encourages the viewer to embark on a voyage of discovery where additional levels of meaning unfold only when the painting is looked at closely. Often in this type of painting, Graham's great sense of humour is evident.

'A painting can speak eloquently yet silently across language and cultural barriers, losing nothing of its power no matter how often or seldom it is looked at.'

Most of Graham's paintings, executed by brush in oils on canvas, often over the top of other media. Each brush stroke is integral to the whole, and the painting breathes with light, colour and life.
