Feltmaking is an ancient Mongolian technique involving agitation, soap and hot water, and is about 2000 years old. Our felt is a non-woven, hard-wearing material made from hand-dyed New Zealand Merino fleece. As the fleece is hand-dyed and the felt needs to dry naturally, some items - especially balls - can take up to 10 days to dry thoroughly.

The felt is long-lasting, and should be gently hand washed with a mild soap or wool preparation in luke-warm water. The sewing and straps on the purses and drawstring bags are made from hand-dyed cotton.

An application has already been made for the use of the Merino NZ Woolmark logo. This is a high quality label, and takes some time to receive.
