New Zealand Artist - <?php echo $artist; ?>

Kay Palmer, a New Zealand artist, has been painting since the 1980s, during which time she has won 3 national awards. She is self-taught, but has had significant tutoring and much encouragement from Philip Trusttum.

Kay's work, which is always in oils, refers to a celebration of the everyday, the seasonal nature of life, and the changing patterns this provides. The subject matter is almost always taken from her immediate environment, and reflects her involvement in her home and in the pottery, which is the forte of her husband Ross. There are often elements in the paintings taken from Kay's family history and set in a contemporary context, thus emphasising Kay's belief in the Journey of Life as being an experience-gathering exercise.

There are examples of Kay's artistic prowess in private collections here in New Zealand, as well as in England, Wales, Australia, the USA, Switzerland, Japan and France.
