Suzanne Herschell

The New Zealand artist Suzanne Herschell lives and works from her studio in Eastbourne, painting her contemporary landscapes.

She is an Artist Member of, and has regularly exhibited over the past 25 years at, the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts and is a recipient of the IBM Art Award for Contemporary Painting.

Suzanne has been involved in group, solo and selected exhibitions throughout New Zealand and is represented in private and corporate collections here and overseas.

Recent works of predominantly dark oils on canvas examine the land in a individual way, and explore the interaction between light and dark, and combine elements of texture and photography. The physicality of painting and the expression of the brush stroke are significant components in the development of these works that convey her connection with the land, and love of its uniquely New Zealand identity.
