Jack Register QSM (for Art)

New Zealand artist Jack Register has a masterly use of watercolour, making each painting look fresh and exciting. People often look in awe at his paintings and ask how he achieves such remarkable effects. He replies:

"Oh, I just seal off my paper, and paint on the spot."

Painting mostly “en plein air” Jack Register has developed his unique style over several decades. His watercolours have a slightly three dimensional feel due to a self-taught process he refuses to reveal.

While Jack Register’s paintings are in collections all around the world, he has a special love of the Manawatu and Rangitikei regions and they have become iconic representations of that area.

During his art career Jack Register has received numerous awards and has participated in over fifty solo and group exhibitions and was the proud recipient of a QSM (Queens Service Medal) in the 2008 New Years Honours List for services to art and music.
