Paul Tait Paul began his professional Art career in Houston, Texas in 1987, attracting the attention of Kevin Spiers the owner of the Fountainhead Gallery at the inaugural Houston Fine Arts Show at the George R Brown Convention Centre in 1988. Paul quickly established himself as a mainstay in the Fountainhead’s stable of artists. In 1991 Paul switched to the long established Thomas V Robinson Gallery in Houston, where he continued to exhibit until his return to New Zealand in 1996.Since returning to New Zealand, Paul has lived with his family in Eastbourne, where amongst other things he owned and ran the Rona Street Gallery. Paul has been exclusively represented by Richard Ponder since 2002. In addition to his career as an artist, Paul is also a Mechanical Engineer and has recently spent 18 months as the Senior Project Engineer for Robert Stone the main contractor on the billion dollar Kupe Onshore Gas Production Plant in Hawera, Taranaki. “Art is my career, engineering is my hobby.” Paul’s art is unique. I’d try and describe his fierce sense of humour, his moody use of colour, and his eye for composition, but I wouldn’t know where to start. To see his work click [here].
